Have tweaked these to now include a strength meter when throwing. If you just tap the button, you will drop it close in front of you, but the longer you hold it down, it will throw further. Still works in any mod!

Basically I created these because I like to play all sorts of BD mods, but some of them don't have grenades. I think grenades are an AWESOME part of Brutal Doom, especially on the harder difficulties.
So I made these that allow you to throw them while holding any weapon, AND they are mod inspecific. These should work with any mod you throw them into, and will work with Vanilla too! Enjoy some grenades no matter how you play!
Load this up pretty much anywhere in your load order(after any other mods that replace armor bonuses), check your controls to make sure that it has a bind (G is the default), and you will find grenades replacing armor bonus pickups at about 10-20% chance.

I see someone's taken inspiration from BDJ. Hell-to-the-yess on this, I've been trying to make my own BDv20 grenades, but *puke*
Yep! These are a combination of BDJ's grenades, Project Brutality's sprites, and my ACS scripting. I just wanted a way to use grenades regardless of mod, and this way works. So much easier than having to edit EVERY. SINGLE. WEAPON. and making custom states. :D
I have one nitpick with how you've pulled this off; Is there any way to make it faster?
BDJ's grenades were nearly instantaneously thrown, whereas yours have a slight delay between clicking the button and actually throwing it.
Aside from that, this is fraggin' (eh? :D) perfect.
Oh and thanks for Zandronum compatibility; I find BD works much better in ol' Zandi.
I'll see about increasing the speed a little maybe, but I honestly have it the way I do because it feels more realistic to me with the delay. The BDJ ones are faster because they interrupt the Actor state instead of showing an animation of putting the weapon away, pulling the grenade out then throwing it, as you would in a more realistic way. After you get a feel for it, the delay is easy to adjust for though.
Understandable, and I can appreciate why you chose to do what you did. A slightly less slow delay (a second or so less I mean) is what would be ideal for someone like me.
So. Meh? :P
I am uploading a version that fixes the backpack issue, and I sped it up by 1 tic... I can't guarantee I won't change it back, but I'm giving it a chance :) Grab it when it gets authed!
Playing around with this and the 1 tic+ speed, I can see that there really isn't anything to complain about.
If you change it back, I won't object. Thanks for giving it a try, at least!
well it honestly seems fine to me for speed
It also works great my Playstation doom for brutal doom
so does his pipebomb mod. your psx doom is excellent. i just wish i could get the ultimate doom visor to work with it. or any visor for that matter.
Hmm, not sure of your issue... UDV appears to work with PSX doom for me.
in what order do you load it? or in what order would you recommend loading it? and also every time i try to use your visor mod with the bdpistol it reverts back to the assault rifle
this is the problem i always get: Picpaste.com
if i load it before the psx doom pk3 then all i get is the digital font that you have in your visor mod. if i load it after then i get this where it doesnt extend all the way down. im running the game in the exact same resolution across every gzdoom installation i have from my standard BD to PSX BD to 3DO BD. so it cant be the resolution UNLESS his psx mod handles resolution differently from everything else. your visor works with the 3DO version as well.
Not really sure what the problem with yours is because i really can't get it to work period every time when i try all is i hear is a long beep and it hangs. and when i try it with out my psx addon and try to start a new game it just hangs also and to answer your other question i just made it compatable with his pipebomb and jawbone. i added them both to the KEYCONF file.
Ah, I think I know the issue. UDV 1.43 has some problems with mods that have certain SBARINFO configurations. Try out UDV 1.50 test, it is available here:

There are still some bugs, and I won't be releasing the full version till v20 comes out, but this should work for you. Let me know if you have any luck.
well i was still wondering if there was any chance to get a male voice for the AI kind of like Crysis for the visor mod?
Hmm, if you can point me to the voice files for it, I can see what I can do. Otherwise, if you know any males that want to record some voice files for it, I'd be happy to add it in if it sounds good. :-)
well i tried to record my voice and it just didnt sound very good at all. all ive got is a crappy *** mic thats falling apart and audacity which is great for modifying sound files but i cant do too much with it. its also rather hard to do the low health warning bc the warning sound is mixed in with the voice so if i remove the voice i remove a majority of the sound.
Feel free to change the warning sound itself to something else if you want. I'm not tied to that sound honestly, I just want something that goes with the theme of UDV. But that is my problem too, my voice isn't meant for recording lol... but I am definitely up for voice packs for UDV.
well i could do a moderately good job at the voice i just dont have a mic thats any good to do it. i had thought of trying to rip some of the sounds from Metroid Prime but i could never find the sound i wanted. miiiiiight fall back on either crysis sounds or pull something from star trek lol. dunno. thatll have to wait for another month.
little problem. when i pick up a backpack without ever having found the grenades it gives me grenades but i cant actually use them until i find them in the game outside of a backpack. also i found the amount you could carry ridiculously low( comon its doom hes carrying around an AR a fricken chainsaw a 4oo pound minigun a rocket launcher and there is no telling how much the bfg weighs. we got rid of realism a loooooooooong time ago so he should be able to carry a moderate amount of these) so i fixed that.
Which mod are you using? Also, I think 16/32 grenades is pretty generous personally lol :) I don't think it's strictly "real" per se, but I do like having a challenge and not being too OP.
well im using three of yours the Ultimate Doom Visor this one and the pipebomb, flare, jawbone one. and ive got countless others only one of which modifies the weapons ammo cap: Half Assed More Ammo.
aside from this backpack issue these things are great.
Sorry I mean, what base mod? BDv19, v20 test, Quaker, Sperglord, etc?

Can you add that the grenade can go though the teleporter?
the pipebombs can i think. but i dont know about the grenades.
Yep, updated and changed. Not sure how I missed that in the first place. Also increased from 16/32 to 18/36 on quantity. Uploading new version now.

I actually didn't make the video but if you click through to youtube and read the description, it lists them all :-)
If I'm emptying my last bit of ammo by simply holding the trigger down, like on the BFG for instance, when the weapon empties it immediately switches to the grenades and automatically keeps throwing them. This can't be stopped with any keys, including g, and once the grenades run out the throwing animation continues to play until I end the game. This is on Brutal Doom v20 apr13 test.

Hey Just got an error when loading this with zandronum
Script error, "Weapon_StandAlone_HandGrenade.PK3:decorate" line 20: "weapn.minselectionammo1" is an unknown actor property
This happened with and without Brutal doom.
Hmm I was afraid of that. I really hate how Zandronum is so far behind zdoom. It makes things so unnecessarily difficult. I'll see if I can find a workaround.
Alright, fixed it... luckily it wasn't as difficult a fix as I thought. Grab the new version when it gets authenticated! :D
