Experience this classic game with sharper graphics!
I reworked/updated 353 textures for this game to make it look nicer. I used the original textures as a basis to keep the look as close to the original as possible, plus for character textures I used elements of the 'SoT' skins in 'Prince of Persia' (2008) to add more detail.
It's not comprehensive, but it's still nice to see a lot of sharper textures in the game 20+ years later.
BIG v2.0 UPDATE!
Originally it was supposed to be smaller, but I've learned so much doing the rest of the trilogy I ended up reworking a lot of existing textures+going through the whole game & doing a lot more textures - 215 to be exact, almost twice as many as there were in the the original pack! So you have 215 reasons to give this pack another try.
The pack now also includes Peixoto's Injector itself for easier setup, yay! I have nothing to do with it, so if you like it, give him a buck on his Patreon.
I hope you'll enjoy it. If you do, please Endorse it & leave a comment, I'd love to know how you liked it.
What's in the pack?
The pack contains texture files you can use with Peixoto's Injector.
How to use:
- Download my mod & Unzip it to a folder of your choosing.
- Go to the Peixoto folder in my pack & Open Peixoto.bat
- Find 'Prince of Persia - SOT' in the list on the left & click on it once.
(The Injector has some viewability isues on my end, so if the list disappears, try resizing the window until you see what you need.)
- Scroll down to 'Texture swapping', make sure the box is ticked, then click on one of the paths it offers (I used VOKSI).
Now it created a folder tree in your Documents folder where you can place my files.
- Extract/move the content of the VOKSI folder in my pack here (both the Dumps+Replacements folders).
Once that's done, you can close this window.
- Scroll back up & click >Play!
When you first run the game this way it will ask you to locate your PrinceOfPersia.exe
You only need to do it once, so in the popup window find your installation folder & double-click on the .exe
(e.g. if you have a Steam copy: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Prince of Persia The Sands of Time)
Yay, your game should be running now! That's it! You're good to go.
(It might take a few seconds longer for the game to launch while it loads the new textures.)
Quality of Life Tips/Troubleshooting:
- If you have a Steam copy of the game and it fails to launch, copy Steam.dll and steam.exe into the game's installation folder.
- To save yourself the trouble of launching from the Injector, just hit ->Create shortcut! on the game's page.
Now you'll have a desktop icon you can use to launch the game easily.
- If you want to keep the vaseline filter, scroll down to the bottom of the game's page in the Injector & uncheck 'Pixel shader override'
- I recommend using >Super Sampling\Ceilx2 in the Injector
(You can find it under Settings\Forced resolution)It antialiases the pixelated motion blur & water FX.(I don't recommend using Ceilx4, it caused major performance issues on my end.)
- If you have fog covering up everything:
Go to <path-to-game> and open Hardware.ini.Change the following values as noted:ForceVSFog=1InvertFogRange=0Save the file
- For faster startup, I recommend you Delete or rename video files:
Go to <path-to-game>\Video.Delete or rename Bink.int, Intro.int, nvidia.int, poplogo.int and ubisoft.int.(Taken from Pcgamingwiki.com)
- Though Peixoto supposedly fixed screen issues, I recommend downloading the Widescreen Fix by nemesis2000 anyway, which you can find here:
Ps2wide.netIt fixes compatibility, widescreen and resolution issues. It's just one file you need to extract into the game's installation folder.
