Here is a sample level for use to help with you level building for Codename: Outbreak.
Created by Deep Shadows. Mirrored here for archival purposes. Note the Vital Engine SDK mentioned in the readme is located here.
This is just brief explanation, the full documentation will
be released on...
NOTE: You MUST install patch for creating CTF maps
if you have got European version of the game.

Prepearing editors to work with "Codename: Outbreak"
=====================================================
1. Copy "gfbuild.exe" to "Codename Outbreak\" directory.
There should be a "*.grp" file in game directory. It's name is different
in different language versions. It is named "main.grp" in english version.
Run "gfbuild.exe", specifying the name of "*.grp" file as a parameter, f.e.:
>gfbuild.exe main.grp
This will unpack group file. Make sure you have 1GB of free space
on your drive. Now delete "*.grp" file, it is no longer needed
(you still will be able to run game normally).
There new files and directories should appear in game directory after
unpacking:
"\TEXTURES" - game textures
"\ROF" - models
"\LEV" - levels
Now copy following files from Vital Engine ZL SDK to the game directory:
_Levedit.exe
_Rofedit.exe
_Ped.exe
levedit.cfg
odefault.txt (from this package)
We recomend to spend some time exploring standard levels.
Note, for forcing level editor to execute "Outbreak.exe" when you press
"Play button", specify "Game EXE file:" in
Level editor->File->Configuration->Defaults

Making CTF maps
=====================================================
CTF map must have some objects on it, f.e. red team start points,
blue team start points, flags, ammunition, weapons, etc.
There is a simple example of CTF level in this package, named
"Simplest_CTF.lev". All types of objects you need
on CTF map are included on it. Copy objects from this level
to your map (you may do it using "presets", read about them in "Levedit.doc").
There are a lot of presets collected in file "odefault.txt", included
in this package (copy this file in game directory to use them).
=====================================================
Making your map available in game menu
=====================================================
Note, that when you start your map from level editor using "Play" button,
it will be executed in "Single player" mode. This is fine on the
first stages of working on map - just make sure you placed object
"Start point" with preset "Single player start point" on your map.
On the final stages you must leave editor and run your map
from the game menu.
To make your level appear in game menu, you need two additional files:
PICS\CTFMISSION\Simplest_CTF.txt
PICS\CTFMISSIOn\Simplest_CTF.bmp
(file names must match your level name)
Text file contains some information about the level and the author, f.e.

"CTF Example" level).
