The current goal of the Expanded Galaxy Project is to expand upon both games as much as possible by adding all planets not present in both games and vice-versa through a port of the first game to the second games engine.

Post news Report RSS Hardcoded Executable Edits

After a lot of searching and some creative thinking I have finally tracked down the hardcoded values inside the games executable that made certain elements of the GUI impossible to change otherwise.

That includes the dialog text and several other text elements within various screens.

As well as any buttons that also had their borders controlled by values within the executable.

Remaining Values ( Red & Highlight Details )

The only remaining values I have yet to find are the colour values for status effects and the text highlight, which aren't really a big deal.

What I do know is that changing the Green value for the dialog text, also changes the highlight colour, I think the highlight colour values fluctuate that value in order to make the text flash between darker and lighter.

As for the status effects, I have no idea what colour values are being used so tracking that down might be difficult, but I will try to do so at some point because I would like everything to be absolutely perfect.

Regarding the details for how to do this, I have written a tutorial over at DeadlyStream in my KotOR Modding Tutorial Series, I have not yet verified the values for the LegacyPC/Disc versions of the game's executable, only the Steam/Aspyr version of the game currently but at some point in the future when I prepare the LegacyPC/Disc version of the project, I will ensure to track these values down.

I put a lot of time into changing such a small detail, but it just didn't feel right to leave the TSL green in the game and so I decided it had to be done.

Hoping to prepare a new release of the project to upload here and elsewhere sometime soon, but for now the project remains on GitHub and remains a work in progress.

KOTOR Blue certainly feels much better than TSL green in Menus, great work!
